A Brief Introduction to "human Pheromones"
نویسندگان
چکیده
The study of pheromones in non-human animals has a long pedigree. In contrast, the existence of human pheromones is controversial, although at its base this controversy may be largely semantic. Here we summarise the converging evidence from phylogeny, physiology, and behaviour that suggests that the human axilla may have some kind of communicative function, and that axillary secretions can influence social interactions. We recommend that future work should be channelled by the growing scientific understanding that chemical influences on human behaviour may be dependent upon context and environment.

Effect of pheromones on the plasma level of prolactin during pregnancy and lactating periods in female rat
Introduction: Pheromones play a great role in the reproductive and social behavior of animals. The main sources of pheromones are urine and paracrine secretions. Through the neuroendocrine system, prolactin is a safe parameter to measure and compare the effects of pheromones on the sexual, maternal and also lactating behavior. Methods: Female rats were divided into 19 groups (n=8). To measur...

Background & Aims: Neurogenesis in the adult mammal brain occurs throughout life. Adult neurogenesis has been clearly demonstrated in the sub granular zone (SGZ) of the dentate gyrus (DG) in the hippocampus. Pheromones that plays an essential role in the development of the central nervous system. The male pheromones are involved in regulating neurogenesis in both the olfactory bulb and hippocam...
متن کاملLETTER TO THE EDITOR Human Pheromone Detection by the Vomeronasal Organ: Unnecessary for Mate Selection?
Recently, Foltan and Sedy proposed a hypothesis stating that the adult human VNO is integral to the prevention of inappropriate mate selection. In this commentary, we address the authors’ assumption that humans have a functional VNO, that pheromones are detected exclusively by the VNO, and that human pheromones are responsible for negative stimuli during mate selection. After examining the publ...

متن کاملReproductive enhancement in buffalo: looking at urinary pheromones and hormones
The success of conception in buffalo is greatly dependent on precise estrus detection and time of artificial insemination (AI). Various visual, behavioral, biochemical and gyneco-clinical parameters have been tracked closely and a cost-effective combinatorial model has been developed to detect estrus in buffaloes. Pheromones play pivotal roles in reproduction and behavior of mammals. Urine, an ...
